CASTIL TO PROBE CHILD ABUSE RAPS VS. COP

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office acting director, Sr. Supt. Rodolfo Castil ordered an investigation on the complaint of a woman against a policeman for alleged child abuse of his own children. Castil said he already forwarded the case to the Women and Children Complaint Desk of NOPPO. “Hindi ko palalampasin yan kasi kawawa yung bata.” Castil said when asked for his reaction. He added “asahan nyo ang action naming dyan.” Earlier, woman asked the intervention of Task Force Kasanag (TFK), a civil society group, to help in her fight for the custody of her two grandchildren and file a complaint against their father, who happens to be a police officer, for alleged child abuse. In a letter to TFK national commander John Chong, Gemma Guanzon said she wants to take custody of her grandchildren as they are in a “pitiful state” with their father identified as PO3 Norman Labrador. Guanzon narrated to reporters here on July 2, 2017 that her daughter (name withheld) died seven months ago and her death wish was for her mother to take care of the children. She added that her daughter fell ill of cervical cancer and Labrador with her children lived with her. But after her daughter was buried, Guanzon claimed that Labrador allegedly forcibly took the two children ages 9 and 7. She claimed that instead of taking care of the children, Labrador allegedly left them with some people. Labrador, according to Guanzon, has another family of his own. She added that she has already filed a case in court for the custody of her grandchildren and the case is being heard in court. But she lamented that the policeman did not show up at the Regional Trial Court in Bago City where the case is being heard. It also happens that Labrador is assigned at the RTC where the case is pending. Guanzon said she wants the police officer relieved from his current assignment to prevent him from influencing the case. Chong said he has met with Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office acting director, Senior Supt. Rodolfo Castil, who promised to act on the case. He also showed a video taken by the complainant showing that the children did not want to go with their father.
